The Quiet Life

The Quiet Life
“THE QUIET LIFE” includes productions from German producers Shuko & Fonty (who produced Fresh Daily’s recently released single, “Say Yes!”), Theory Hazit (“The Quiet Life”) and MNDSGN (“Impossible Dream” and “Next Time”). “THE QUIET LIFE” also features collaborations with emcees ScienZe, Suede Jury and Chris Faust and R&B vocalist, Cocoa Sarai.

“The Quiet Life” represents the grand and fruitful escalation of an individual’s existence. There are by no doubt multiple stages. During these recognizable periods of time, the individual can be sized and weighed. While we do not all hit the same stages, facing the same moons, there is surely a recognizable trajectory in progression. “The Quiet Life” is that of an individual striving for excellence. It represents a lifestyle of sureness and preparedness in which your passions pay your bills. There is a very special stage of growth which we have come to name “The Quiet Life”.

“This is my debut album. I worked on it for about 3-4 years before it dropped. It was a labor of love that I wrote over a period of time. It was released on High Water Music
and was produced by Illmind, Dj Spinna, Exile, Oh No, 88-Keys & more. It featured, Cool Calm Pete and Homeboy Sandman and Tanya Morgan. It’s definitely an indie hip-hop classic and a good view into my early musical background.

I’ve been working on this project since September of 2009. This is an amalgam of many thoughts and ideas. My thoughts and musings of how my people, people of color relate to each other in relationships & socially. All in all we’ve been built and programmed to have shoddy social/love relationships as a result of slavery and years of conditioning to break down our culture and heritage. Really, it’s also just a personal dissertation & exploration on my relationships w/ lovers, friends & family. Also a celebration of women and the life cycle of several things. We as men come out of a woman (our Mother) enter a woman again (our wives/lovers) and return to mother EARTH in death. Plus it’s just a spaced-out, low-end mixtape composed of dope jams. I did all the artwork for this and from this came two t-shirts and a 5-panel cap collaboration. It was mixed by producer, engineer and good friend, Benamin @ The Zoo Studios.

This was technically my 3rd mixtape. I had a mixtape of random songs called “Winterfresh” (not to be confused with the song of the same title), but this was my 2nd ORIGINAL project. It was my first foray into synth driven music inspired by electro, house and music OTHER than traditional hip-hop beats. It was concept driven and refreshing. It made it to BET’s top 10 mixtapes of 2009. Originally a free project, I revamped it and re-released it for sale with new unreleased songs.

My first mixtape under the name “Fresh Daily”. It’s never been released online although its 1st review was by Datwon Thomas (editor-in-chief of KING magazine, XXL, VIBE). It was recorded at Substantials home studio in about ’05 and featured Pumpkinhead, Substantial and Mr. Mecca. I had the beat for Raekwon’s “Baggin’ Crack” by Dr. Dre YEARS before it dropped. It’s a must-have for any of my fans.
